Take 2 Rescue, Inc is a federally exempt 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to giving unwanted, abandoned dogs of all breeds
a 2nd take on life. This all breed dog rescue, saves dogs from local kill shelters
and other situations. Our dogs have all
vet care finished before going to their new home. Our adoption donations are a standard $200 regardless of the expenses incurred by the dog.
Take 2 Rescue was started by Bob & Kim Hendershot in October of 2004 when one
of Kim’s co-workers showed her Petfinder.com and opened her eyes to the fact
that there were so many wonderful animals out there that needed help. Hoping to make a difference, Kim took this
information to her husband and in November, they brought home their first set
of puppies – saved from a kill shelter, vetted and looking for new homes! In February 2005, Kim & Bob began calling
themselves “Take 2 Rescue” and in August of 2005 the rescue became a federally
exempt non-profit organization.
The
first full year Take 2 Rescue was in operation (2005), 20 dogs were placed into
loving homes, 11 adoption events and five fundraisers were held.
In 2006, 34 dogs were placed, 12 adoption events and 8 fundraisers were held.
Going into 2007, Take 2 Rescue has a 95% placement success rate! We are very proud of that and work hard to screen adopters to
try and ensure the dogs are placed in quality, loving forever homes that are a good fit for the dog AND the family. Take 2 Rescue consists solely of volunteers who also hold full time jobs,
take care of their families, etc. We do our best to help as many dogs as we can and answer correspondence in a timely
fashion.
Take 2 Rescue is currently looking to expand and grow with the help of more dog lovers!! We are looking for a Fundraising Chair,
people to participate in Pet Therapy, doggie play pals, people to help train the dogs and foster homes!
